Please be advised that the Utilities department has started the spring fire hydrant flushing and inspection program and will continue operations over the next three weeks.
The work being performed is very important to the maintenance of the water distribution system as it removes the naturally occurring minerals that have settled in the hydrants and happens each spring and fall.
As a result of this work, residents in the immediate vicinity may experience temporary discoloration to their water which is caused by the minerals that get stirred up during the flushing process. There are NO health concerns associated with this.
Should residents notice any discoloration, turn all faucets on in your home for a couple of minutes using ONLY COLD WATER. Please avoid using warm or hot water to avoid any sediment getting into hot water tanks.
The work will be taking place Monday to Friday from 9am-4pm.
