Throughout Fair Trade Month (October 1-31, 2026), visit participating businesses and organizations across Selkirk to find the official scavenger hunt posters. Each stop features a short chapter in the story of a Fair Trade product, taking you on a journey from the farm where it’s grown to the shelves of local shops.
It’s a fun, self-guided activity that you can complete at your own pace, anytime throughout October. No registration or purchase is required to participate.
How It Works
1. Find a stop
Visit participating businesses and organizations throughout Selkirk and look for the Selkirk Fair Trade Scavenger Hunt poster. Note: Participating businesses and organizations may have different hours of operation. Please check the location’s hours before heading out on the Fair Trade Hunt to make sure you can access the poster and complete the stop during your visit. Hours may vary throughout the month, so we recommend checking directly with the business or organization ahead of time.
2. Read the story
Each poster shares a short, interesting fact or chapter about Fair Trade and its impact on farmers, communities, and our planet.
3. Find the Code Word
Look closely at the poster to find the highlighted Code Word.
4. Scan & submit
Scan the QR code on the poster and submit the Code Word online.
5. Earn entries!
Every completed stop earns you one entry into our prize draw.
Complete All 8 Stops & Get a Bonus!
You can participate as much or as little as you’d like. Complete just one stop or work your way through all eight! Complete all 8 stops and receive an additional 50 BONUS entries into the prize draw! The more stops you complete, the more chances you have to win.
One lucky winner will receive a fair trade product package valued at over $100 in goodies! Full of all the wonderful fair trade goodies available throughout the City of Selkirk!
Locations
Official participating locations will be announced by September 28, 2026.
The City of Selkirk Fair Trade Steering Committee is inviting local businesses and organizations to participate in the Selkirk Fair Trade Hunt, taking place throughout October 2026. As a participating location, you’ll help residents explore Selkirk, learn about Fair Trade, and discover local businesses and organizations along the way.
We’ve made it easy! The City of Selkirk Fair Trade Steering Committee will provide everything you need to participate, including:
- A professionally designed Fair Trade Hunt poster with your location’s unique Code Word and QR code.
- Any additional signage or supplies needed for your location.
- Promotional materials and information about the Hunt.
- Promotion of participating locations through City marketing and Fair Trade Month promotions.
Your only responsibility is to:
- Display the provided scavenger hunt poster in a visible, high-traffic location from October 1–31, 2026.
- Keep the poster visible and accessible throughout the month.
That’s it—no cost, no supplies to purchase, and no additional activities or staffing required!
Plus, if your business sells or serves Fair Trade products, we’d love to highlight them! When you complete the application, let us know what Fair Trade products you carry, and we can include that information on your Hunt poster. This gives participants an opportunity to discover Fair Trade products while visiting your location.
