Maureen Flynn

Maureen Flynn is a passionate mystery writer and storyteller. She began her writing journey as a local newspaper reporter and columnist for View from the Crow’s Nest. Currently, Maureen serves as a Library Clerk at Robert Smith Elementary School in the Lord Selkirk School Division, where she inspires young learners to love literature. Outside of writing, she enjoys landscape painting, kayaking, pickleball, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Sleepy the Clown

Sleepy the Clown has been entertaining audience across the Canadian prairies for the better part of thirty years. From Churchill to Emerson and even on the other side of the world in Dubai and India. Offering vaudeville style variety clown shows, roaming entertainment and some of Manitoba’s best balloon twisting art. He will try anything once, twice if you feed him.

Clowning has taken Charles ‘Sleepy’ Lauder to the other side of the world and back. What started as a passion and a hobby has become his career and contribution to society. Clown is a small word with big meaning and feelings. Come learn what that means from Sleepy, or just have a bit of fun with a balloon or a juggle.

Donna Artimowich

Donna Artimowich has always loved books, reading and learning new things. She completed her Library Training Certificate through RRCC and went on to work as a school librarian with LSSD for 22 years, retiring in 2019. She now works casually as a substitute librarian for both LSSD and the Gaynor Regional Library.

Donna is a proud Nana to three granddaughters and enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, travelling and spending time outdoors. One of her favourite parts of being a librarian was reading to students, and she can’t wait to read to you!

Marlena Muir

Marlena Muir is a 2Spirit Cree-Métis community leader, currently serving as Community Safety & Well-being Coordinator at Selkirk Community Renewal Corporation and owner of Métis-Superstar Designs. As a cultural helper (Skaabe/Oskâpêwis), she shares Cree-Métis teachings through storytelling, hands-on learning, and community engagement across Manitoba. An artist, hand-drummer, singer, and mother of two, Marlena is passionate about building understanding, connection, and a stronger community.

Charlene & Gord Henrikson

Char is a recently retired teacher and Gord, also retired, worked in management. Together, they share a love of family, books, and the simple joy of a good story.

Proud grandparents to two little ones, they spend plenty of time reading to their grandchildren and sharing the magic of books. When they’re not enjoying story time with the grandbabies, you’ll often find Char and Gord enjoying a good book themselves, taking their time with a little leisurely reading. They’re exited to share their love of stories and reading at this event!
