Urban Forest Strategy Open House
Trees are critical infrastructure. They provide essential services such as heat mitigation, stormwater management, improved air quality, increased biodiversity, and enhanced quality of life. However, the city’s urban forest faces pressures from climate change, urban development, aging trees, pests and diseases, and resource constraints.
That’s why we’re developing a comprehensive Urban Forest Strategy that will provide a long-term, practical plan to protect, grow, and manage our urban forest.
You’re invited to learn about the current state of Selkirk’s urban forest, review findings from the project to date, and provide feedback on the strategy as it continues to take shape at the Urban Forest Strategy Open House.
Information from the open house and all data collected will be analyzed over the summer and a first draft of the strategy is anticipated in October with presentation to council in December.
Date: August 5, 2026, 5-8pm (come and go)
Location: Selkirk Recreation Complex – Banquet Hall, 180 Easton Dr.
