City of Selkirk Public Notice Regarding Potential Bear Sighting in Selkirk Park

Please be advised that a bear may have been spotted in Selkirk Park. Manitoba Conservation officers have attended the area, set a trap, and have confirmed there is no immediate threat to public safety.

As a precautionary measure, all trails in Selkirk Park are temporarily closed. The park itself remains open, but visitors are asked to use extra caution and practice bear-smart habits, including:

  • Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Do not approach or feed wildlife.
  • If you are bringing food, keep it locked away and never leave it unattended.
  • Properly dispose of garbage.
  • Keep pets on a leash at all times except at the Selkirk Off-Leash Dog Park.
