Please be advised that as of 2pm on Friday, May 23, 2025, upon the recommendation of the Selkirk Fire Chief, the City of Selkirk has removed the temporary fire ban for the City of Selkirk. Please note that this does not include neighbouring communities. For fire or burn ban status on other communities outside of the City of Selkirk, please check their websites directly.
As always, before starting any fire within city limits, please ensure to adhere all fire safety regulations and by-laws to help protect yourself and the community.
Information can be found at MySelkirk.ca/FireProtection.
The fire ban had been in effect since May 7, 2025, as a proactive measure to reduce the risk of fires in Selkirk and helps ensure firefighting resources remained available to support regional fire response efforts in areas more prone to fire.
