WHEREAS The ability to read, write and communicate is empowering; and
WHEREAS Communication provides a basis to who we are and how we live together and interact with the world; and
WHEREAS The Manitoba Reading Association theme for I Love to Read Month, 2021 is “Joyful Reading in a New World”; and
WHEREAS We are all experiencing many challenges in this current pandemic environment, there are also new opportunities to find joy in reading within our families and the community: and
WHEREAS To celebrate “I Love to Read Month,” the City of Selkirk is planning virtual events, which will support and promote reading to its citizens.
THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that I, Larry Johannson, Mayor of the City of Selkirk, in the Province of Manitoba, do hereby proclaim February, 2021 to be “I Love to Read Month” in Selkirk and commend its thoughtful observance to all citizens.
