DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Culture Days “Under the Stars Stories and Screen”. Friday October 4\, 6 pm in Selkirk Park (near the Ag Building). \nJoin us for a magical evening of storytelling and cinema at “Under the Stars: Stories & Screen”! Celebrate Culture Days with a night full of warmth and wonder. Join us around the campfire\, where local storytellers create a “Human Library\,” as they share captivating tales and personal stories. As you listen to the stories\, enjoy cooking some traditional Bannock on a stick over the campfire. As the night unfolds\, settle in for an outdoor movie screening of the family favorite movie Migration (beginning at 7:30 pm). Please bring a blanket or lawn chair for spectating the film. Storytelling and campfire side performances by Jane Burpee\, Sleepy the Clown\, local author Maureen Flynn and more! This event is free\, however popcorn and concession items available for purchase. Don’t miss this chance to experience a blend of cultural storytelling and outdoor cinema. See you under the stars! \nLocation: Inside Selkirk Park (next to the Ag Building) Check out the location map for exact coordinates of the event. \nRain location: Selkirk Recreation Complex Banquet Hall at 180 Easton Dr. \n  \nFree Bussing to and from the Event\nSelkirk Transit will be offering free pickup before the event and drop-off after movie. \nSpecific pickup times only\, not continuous loop. She operates Peacock Puppet Theatre\, and has appeared in several productions at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. \nJane will be telling the story “A Letter Delayed” \nA older\, independent woman finds out she has cancer. She can’t decide whether to let her grown children know because she doesn’t want to worry them. She finally writes a letter to her children and must decide when to give it to them. \nSleepy the Clown\n \nSleepy the Clown\, a.k.a. Charles Lauder\, has been entertaining on the Canadian prairies for almost thirty years. From Churchill to Emerson and even on the other side of the world in Dubai and India. Offering a variety of juggling and magic\, balloons and comedy\, to fairs and festivals all over. Find Sleepy at Under the Stars Stories and Screen for award-winning balloons\, over-the-top antics and just the right amount of silly. \nMaureen Flynn – Storyteller\n \nBorn and raised in Selkirk\, Maureen has dedicated most of her career to Manitoba Hydro before transitioning to a role at Robert Smith School’s library. With a passion for writing\, she has contributed to local newspapers and authored a mystery series\, including Buckle my Shoe\, Shut the Door\, and Pick up Sticks. When not immersed in books\, Maureen enjoys golfing\, skiing\, and trying out the latest craze\, pickleball. \nMaureen will be telling the story of “Jimmy the Crow” \nIf you grew up in Selkirk in the late 1960s\, you likely remember a rare bird that we called Jimmy the Crow.  \nMr. Richard Magician\n \nMr. Richard is an eccentric\, hilarious performer known for his unique blend of magic and card tricks. He has entertained audiences of all sizes and was a standout contestant on Canada’s Got Talent. \nPrincess Elsa\n \nPrincess Elsa will sing and share her story with you! \nSpiderman\n \nJoin Spiderman for fireside stories and fun! \n  \nOutdoor Movie “Migration”\n7:30 – 9:00 pm (1 hr 25 min run time)\n \nA family of ducks try to convince their overprotective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime.

DESCRIPTION:Great rodeo action is back in Selkirk for the 57th year! Visit their website for full schedule of events happening this July! \n” In 1867 Canada was born under the British North America Act\, including the provinces of Ontario\, Quebec\, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  By 1869 the Red River colony was the only settlement of importance east of the Rockies.  By 1876 there were more than 200 people living and farming in the Red River community.  As the number of settlers and farming grew in the area\, agricultural businesses and farmers found that there was much more power and safety in numbers.  A good crop yield\, easy access to transportation and elevators for storage would benefit the community and the local farmers greatly.  Therefore the farmers banded together to form the St. Andrews-St. Clements Agricultural Society in 1878 under Charter No. 2 to serve on behalf of the farmer to advocate and to lobby policies and activities which would assist the agricultural community.” Read more bout the history of the Fair & Rodeo on their website.
