DESCRIPTION:Step into Selkirk’s vibrant past on May 14 at the Evening of History\, a special fundraising event in support of the Selkirk Heritage Endowment Fund (SHEF). Held at Memorial Hall (376 Jemima St\, Selkirk) from 6 to 9 p.m.\, the evening promises an engaging celebration of local heritage with wine and beer\, light refreshments\, entertainment\, door prizes\, a 50/50 fundraiser\, and a silent auction. \nThis event will take you on a journey through Manitoba’s forgotten places with historian and author Gordon Goldsborough. Drawing from his book Abandoned Manitoba\, he will share the stories behind these sites\, exploring their history\, why they were left behind\, and the lasting impact they hold in our province’s past. \nTicket sales and donations contribute to preserving local history\, ensuring that future generations will have a physical municipal museum. The City of Selkirk established the Selkirk Heritage Endowment Fund in 2012 as a perpetual endowment fund to support the operational costs of a new museum. Until a physical museum is created\, the fund pays out grants to the Marine Museum of Manitoba and to a dedicated staff person who manages and populates the city’s online museum. \nTickets are available at two price points: $25 or $50. Both include admission to the event\, entry into a door prize draw\, two glasses of wine or beer\, and refreshments. Those who choose the $50 ticket will also receive a $25 tax receipt\, have their name featured on a special “gold guest list” displayed near the bar\, and be recognized on the Donor Wall of the Selkirk Museum website. \nTickets are now available here. As the night unfolds\, settle in for an outdoor movie screening of the family favorite movie Migration (beginning at 7:30 pm). Please bring a blanket or lawn chair for spectating the film. These family friendly\, free concerts are located at the Selkirk Waterfront while ‘Music on Manitoba’ is located on Manitoba Ave East. \nThe series continues with the highly anticipated Rock the Waterfront concert bash on July 20th\, featuring performances from Dreams and Rumours: Dreams and Rumours is a Winnipeg-based band that has solid reputation to charm audiences with their high energy and skilled performances. \nFollowed by Zed Zepplin\, who is said to be undeniably one of the most influential rock bands of all time\, witness the authenticity and electricity of ZED ZEPPELIN-Tribute To Led Zeppelin. Performing all of the timeless songs spanning their entire career\, ZED ZEPPELIN delivers the look\, sound\, and feel of the most enduring band in rock history. \nCome on down to the Selkirk Waterfront this summer for an unforgettable musical experience\, don’t forget the lawn chairs!

Grab your cowboy hat and boots and get ready to two-step to the country hits from the 90’s. \nFollowing Hearts on Fire\, is the Sean Taylor Band\, who are an energetic\, 6-piece party band that loves nothing more than making great music for our listeners to enjoy. So bring your dancing shoes and your best singing voice and party all night with us!

DESCRIPTION:*Registration is required to attend this free event. \nThe final I Love to Read in PJ’s Night is set for February 29 at 6:30 pm at the Gaynor Family Regional Library. This event will showcase the book “Fry Bread” by Kevin Noble Maillard and will have Knowledge Keeper Jeannie Whitebird as the special guest reader! \nWe’ll welcome a guest reader each week\, and every child will get to take home the book that was read. Following the reading is a literacy activity and a bedtime snack. This program is targeted at children ages 5-9 years old\, and parents/guardians must be in attendance. \nSpots for this program are limited\, register here. \nI Love to Read Month programs are offered in partnership with the City of Selkirk\, Selkirk & District Community Foundation Inc and United for Literacy / Littératie Ensemble – Manitoba.
