Selkirk Transit shuttle service to run Friday and Saturday
Planning on heading out to Holliday Alley this weekend?
Now you can beat the traffic and get to Holiday Alley in fine style courtesy of the Selkirk Transit Authority (STA). Selkirk Transit has announced it will run a free shuttle service to the Gwen Fox Gallery, the entranceway to Holiday Alley for both days of the massive outdoor event.
“We are inviting everyone in Selkirk and throughout the Interlake to get a ride on us,” STA manager Charlene Dunning said. “We will be running shuttles every 30 minutes to and from the Gwen Fox Gallery to help people get to and from the site and not have to worry about traffic or parking.”
Running Every 30 Minutes
The busses will depart from Canalta Hotels and Canadian Tire in the Selkirk Crossing area of the city. The service will run from 6 pm until 10 pm on Friday, December 1 and all day – from 10 am to 10 pm – on Saturday, December 2.
The rides will be free but donations will be gratefully accepted. Proceeds will go to Homes For All Fund established by the Selkirk and District Community Foundation.
“Holiday Alley will be the biggest wintertime celebration this city has ever seen,” Dunning said, “and we want to make sure everyone has the chance to get out and be part of the fun.”
“We’re delighted to be part of what we expect will be an awesome event and want to do everything we can to help people join the celebration.”
Holiday Alley Weekend! will result in some temporary road closures. On Friday, December 1, a section of Manitoba Avenue East will close from 4pm-10pm. On December 2, Manitoba Avenue East – from Main Street to Eveline Street – will be closed as of 4am to re–open at 11pm.
