Santa’s Parade of Lights is celebrating its 10 year anniversary on Friday November 27th.
The annual parade will commence at 7:00 pm and run up Eveline St. starting at Heap Ave and ending at Superior Ave. The Selkirk lift bridge will be closed from 6:30-9:00.
Eva Hawryshko, Coordinator of Santa’s Parade of lights says “the parade has on average 50 floats, 8 of which are usually from Winnipeg and many others from the RM’s of St. Andrews and St. Clements. Selkirk businesses, organizations and individuals make up the rest”.
“Growing Years assisted this year by handing out and accepting float registration forms which was very helpful”.
Eva hosted a successful Mug, Spud & Steak at the Selkirk Golf Course on October 24th which raised funds to go towards the coordination and expenses of putting the parade on.
Float entries are still being accepted and have a $20 entry fee.
We would like to remind all to please not throw candy from or near vehicles for the safety of the children.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary, Red Bomb fireworks will be displaying a “Winter Fireworks Extravaganza” at the Selkirk Waterfront immediately following the parade. Time is approx. 8:00 pm but depends on when the last float reaches Superior.
“As soon as you see the last float go by, head down to the Waterfront to see the incredible fireworks display” says City of Selkirk’s Marketing & Communications Coordinator, Vanessa Figus.
